Looking back at previous blogs I notice that I didn't say much about my ducks after I said I would. Well they have been here for about six months now and
I started getting eggs last month. Now if you have never had duck eggs you don't know what your missing! But most people find em too rich so my suggestion is... baked goods. Duck eggs in your cake or cookies is gonna make them that much better! Anyway the three ducks that you saw in the earlier pictures turned out to be 2 drakes and 1 hen. That sweet little hen is giving me about one egg a day. She usually takes a break once or twice during a week. And you can bet I'm grateful for all her hard work because I am allergic to those old store bought eggs, I think its all the meds and stuff they get. And lets not forget the big egg scare going on, I don't even have to worry about that!
So here's about 3 pics of my babies growing up:
Here they are playing in the pool in the kitchen floor. This was a daily occurrence where they usually got a can of veggies and about an hour to play. This was while they still lived in a cage in the house.
So here they are again, much much bigger now and finally living outside. They still don't have all their coloring but its creeping in. They so love playing in the mud!
Here they are just about full grown now, the boys have their green heads and are very protective of the girl.
I forgot to mention we named them Abby, Ducky and Spike.
We now have chickens that I want to tell you all about but that will have to wait till next time... I need to get some sleep!
